Highlights of European Cancer Congress
Nell'opinione di Martine Piccart (ESMO), i “sorprendenti” risultati ottenuti con l'immunoterapia nel trattamento dei tumori più complessi sono stati tra gli argomenti di maggior interesse del Congresso (27 settembre – 1 ottobre 2013). Vincenzo Valentini (ESTRO) ha invece posto l'accento sulla nuova percezione secondo la quale il trattamento locale di radioterapia possa avere un impatto sulle malattie sistemiche. Graeme Poston (ESSO) ha invece sottolineato l'importanza della formazione dei giovani chirurghi oncologi, che in alcuni casi può ammontare a sole 6000 ore, in confronto alle oltre 40000 delle precedenti generazioni.
